36Smile! Day 11 Training for my first 10K!
Currently, I am training to run a 10K, 6.2 miles. I ran my first 5k since high school, about a month ago and it felt so good!
Now, for all you avid runners, 10K may not like seem very long. But baby steps first!
The last two days I have been running for an hour, with just a 3-4 min walk interval. Intervals are important while training to build up your endurance. With the sun out, Britney Spears jamming in my ear, running for an hour felt absolutely incredible today.
I feel like I am getting to a point where running 6 miles is going to be a piece of cake. Ooooo that sounds so good right now!
Not to mention, I am on a two month coffee and alcohol detox. For several reason, to see how my psoriasis responds to no caffeine or alcohol—which are said to be triggers; because I know I will be drinking copious amounts of both when I go home for my sisters wedding—there is always a pot o'coffee brewing and a bottle of red wine open with my Argentine family around; and third it's always good to detox your body of those while training.
I am looking forward to achieving this goal! There are plenty of upcoming Washington races for anyone else who is interesting in continuing their new years resolutions of staying fit and healthy.
Good luck!
