Being Neighborly Nice

36Smile! Day 15

As the snow continue to come down, Chris and I were enjoying the warmth of our fire and the Breaking Bad marathon—amazing show, with great acting. Netflix it!

But as it start snowing harder, we decided to be kids again and actually play in the snow. What a concept, huh? Put aside what you're doing, stop being lazy and actually have fun. It is possible!

Our neighbors—who have two small kids were also out enjoying the snow. So we ended up playing with them, pushing her kids down their drive way and throwing snow balls at each other. We had a blast. Albeit, a little dirty and wet, but it was totally worth it. Our dogs enjoyed it too!

Remember, we're from Texas and recently lived on Maui for two years so this was like a whole other world to us :)

The neighbor said they were having pot roast for dinner and invited us to come over later. Who are we to turn down good comfort food on a cold, snowy day. We didn't and enjoyed every morsel of the pot roast and roasted veggies, potatoes and turnips.

They previously had us over for Christmas, which was super nice. So we had a good time getting to know them more, playing with their kids—and I think they enjoyed "grown up" talk too.

I think it's a great and a smart thing to get to know your neighbors. Even if you just need a cup of sugar, a neighborly ear or a break from the kids. Take some time out, meet your neighbors, cook them dinner one night and say hi to their kids.

It makes all the difference in the world. And it may also be one of the many things that makes you smile that day.

Know you neighbors? Would love to hear stories or how you met them, what food brought yall together or if you just say hi to them in morning.
